Clean Pakistan is yet another focus area of PYO’s workshops and seminars. These sessions are geared at creating awareness among the population about the importance of cleanliness and how it can be ensured.
It is worth mentioning here that Pakistan produces 50,000 tons of waste per day from households alone. Meanwhile, only sixty percent of this waste is currently being collected, meaning that more tons 25,000 tons of household waste is either left on the streets or dumped in open areas. This is extremely dangerous for the environment. The garbage mostly gets into the drainage and sewerage systems, blocking them and triggering epidemic environmental and health problems.
PYO is set out on the mission to fight against this alarming situation by engaging the community members and citizens in workshops and seminars, where they get to know the importance of cleanliness, how to manage waste on a community level and how form a community-based citizen activism to approach relevant authorities and organizations for waste collection and management. We also plan to train the citizens on union council basis in the latest methodologies of waste management and how they can turn waste management into a business by making them understanding the recycling business. We also plan to launch a series of seminars and workshops about Ecopreneur, which means any entrepreneur who starts a business of waste collection and recycling and generates revenue in the process.
In addition to holding seminars for the citizens, we also organize seminars in schools where we educate children about the importance of cleanliness and what they can do on their level to ensure a clean Pakistan. We strongly believe in the power of young men and women, so most of our seminars and workshops are geared towards them.
